Moonlight in March

Moonlight in March

We ran a moonlight tour this week that was one of our best ever. The snow was perfect, the skies were clear and the crew was so into it.

With the sun not setting till 7:30ish, we ripped up the alpenglow for the majority of the time and then got one nice dark, moonlight run. It was the best of both worlds.

March Madness

March Madness

A big day of big lines, big smiles, big blue skies and big boosters. We crushed it in our Level III land on Soda mostly with 12 super rippers. A blast of a trip guys, what fun, what fun.

Temps got warm again as the past week of weather is now officially gone. Looks like a chance of snow come Friday into Saturday but not certain. It’s March again and the madness of chasing the weather and the powder that comes with it.

As we creep into the final leg of our season we will take what we get and enjoy the backcountry conditions as they come. We only have a couple days remaining until our SPC crew heads to Moab for our annual guide rendezvous.

Storm chasers unit!

Storm chasers unit!

Today was THE DAY once again. A big thanks to all you storm chasers coming to rip up Buff! It’s like getting “the band” back together again with a great crew like this. Thanks for playing and joining with us for a family type session, ripping the Level III land on Buff.

Temps stayed more or less cool with the high clouds hanging around, even a little snow fell. March just keeps giving for us.

It was another magical day.

Bonus powder- 14″ in last 72 hrs

Bonus powder- 14″ in last 72 hrs

When we plan for trips in late March we all know that conditions can be variable to say the least. A week ago, we hadn’t received snow in a while and temps were in the 40’s up top turning the snowpack into one interesting venue. We always find snow and had to poke and prod around the terrain, finding the goods on easterly aspects.

Today, winter is back and our fears of a March thaw have been forgotten. We’ve received another 5″ this morning on the stake and 14″ in the past 3 days. This storm system couldn’t have come at a better time and will certainly set us up for some storm chasing this coming week.

Thanks again to all who stick to it, plan March cat ski adventures and get rewarded with light, dry, blower type snow. Looks like the next couple days will continue to produce and should stay cold. Bring it!
