Last Day of the Season

Last Day of the Season

If there is ever a day you want to come with us its our last day 0f the season. Saturday the 29th was our final adventure into the heaven that is Buffalo Pass and the 2 cats out were set up for an amazing ride. Both groups were mostly returning guests and the guides unleashed the greatest lines ever including Success, Exhibition, Rolly Bowl, Scottie’s, The Flume, The Funnel, Cat Scratch, Scotch on the Rocks even Hangover Ridge for the first time all season.

After Friday’s crazy thunder-lightning-hail-graupel-sleet-snow storm, the conditions on the pass were exceptional, putting an emphasis on just how special Buffalo Pass is and how powder blessed we were in this 2013-14 season.

Mother Nature certain unleashed her best as well with a spectacular bluebird day. Check out the images below that Beuford captured and see just how special the experience was for us today.

This last day and our last post of the season comes with a bit of melancholy and joy as we celebrated together this amazing year. Oh how time has flashed past us once again. A big thanks goes out to our staff who truly love, love, love spending time guiding you, our guests and fans on the daily escapades that is Steamboat Powdercats. We are all crazed by the search for the fresh powder, the passion for the mountains and the camaraderie of getting out into the backcountry of Northwest Colorado.

SPC crew destroys Jackson Hole

SPC crew destroys Jackson Hole

Our company parties have now become quite the tradition. Once we close doors up on Buffalo Pass each season, to say thanks to the staff, we pack up our van and head out with ski’s or motorcycles or parachutes or rafts and pillage one of Mother Natures other playgrounds. Last year we did a trip to the Moab area and the year prior was on the Yampa River and the year prior to that was in Alta/Snowbird.

This year we went to Jackson Hole where we found a 24″ storm had laid down a perfect spring storm for us. We crushed it with 3 days of lapping up the upper lifts as well as hiking off into Granite, Rock Springs and Four Pines zones. It was many of our guides first trip to Jackson area so everything about the trip was just exceptional.

We met some Jackson locals who also have become friends thru their visits to Steamboat Powdercats. Ned and Franci were exceptional hosts and we thank them tremendously for showing us the ins and outs of Jackson Hole.

Also want to thank the other gapers out there on Gaper Day (april 1st) which so happened to coincide with our party. What fun we had. And finally to Michael Franti and Spearhead for playing a free concert at the base on Saturday night. What a rave that was.
