Leaping out of February

Leaping out of February

It only happens every 4 years, Leap Day that is, and today it snowed! Out of the last 4 Leap Day’s we’ve had, it has snowed 3 of them. Hmmmmmmm.

Speaking of snow, we are excited to get out of this February. As you all know, it hasn’t been the snowiest of months for us. After an epic December and January where we saw 100″+ snow cycles come and go, this February was, well, not the greatest. Only 37 total inches fell this month at our cabin. That’s the lowest snow total for a February in the past 12 years. Hmmmmmmmm.

So, onto March, where we will have snow on the stake the 1st day of the month as this storm, though not super powerful, looks to keep givin into tonight.

Looking forward to seeing what March holds for us in this wild, powder world that we live in.

Check out all images from today here.

Magnificent Maize

Magnificent Maize

As the sun starts to linger in the sky for a bit longer each day, the temperatures are starting to warm up and the season of corn skiing has been slowly emerging.

In this drought cycle we’re currently experiencing, we’ve been sticking to the soft north in the morning and once the sun has cooked everything up around lunch time we’ve been venturing to the sunny side for some incredible southern slashin.

Thanks everybody for keeping the stoke alive. Lack of fresh snow in the last week doesn’t mean lack of fun skiing. Your awesome attitudes feed our enthusiasm and we can’t wait to do it all over again tomorrow.

Safari Science

Safari Science

Every now and then, one of our cats winds up calling in sick and has to take the day off. This time around it was our beloved and newest to the fleet, Thunderat, that has a faulty fuel system at the moment. We had to call in the pros from Wagner to give her some TLC as the fix was out of our mechanical reality. While ThunderCat was under the knife, Calvin AKA the Safari Cat jumped in to pick up the shift.

For those of you that have experienced a Safari Cat mission, you know that though its a bit rugged at first, everything is calculated and precise. From loading the skis, to seating, to how snacks and water are stored to how it even drives. As a participant of Safari cat, it can be quite hectic at first. But once you get everything down to a science like Andy, Matt and Nick did today, Safari Cat opens up into a a true adventure machine that only comes out once in a broken down event at Powdercats.

Thank you to all of the guests who get to experience this a few times in a season event.
