ABILITY LEVELS & TERRAIN
INTERMEDIATE - Level I

Yes, it is true; you do not have to be an expert or advanced powder skier to participate in one of our tours. Your fears of the backcountry or your inability to figure out powder will be eased once you come visit us.

For all first time guests who visit us on our intermediate tour, we guarantee you will be satisfied with your experience. So much that if your experience isn't up to par we will give you your money back. Check here for details.

Our intermediate level is our most important level for many reasons. It is the introduction to the backcountry experience for people who have not yet experienced it. It helps them work toward what everyone craves: powder, faces shots and the camaraderie of skiing in a small group on ungroomed fresh snow terrain.

Unlike your experience at any ski area where tracks, chop and bumps ruin the fresh powder by mid-morning, thus making life difficult to learn how to stay afloat in the powder, our terrain holds snow for weeks after a storm and you'll be mostly skiing or riding on untracked virgin snow all day long.

At this level, we will ski mostly gentle, wide open zones or runs with sparse trees with minor access into avalanche terrain. Your guides may offer instruction, assistance with technique and tips if you are interested. Please let your guides know if you are seeking more instruction as they can delve into more instruction if asked to.

Remember that we provide you with the fatter ski's or snowboards and have poles with bigger baskets that help you in the untracked snow.

Skiers and snowboarders at this level are strong intermediates who:

  • may have no powder experience.
  • are confident on blue runs and will occasionally ski black runs on a lift served ski area.
  • are comfortable making smooth parallel turns when skiing.
  • can transfer your heel to toe and pop your turns when snowboarding.
  • enjoy new challenges.
  • seek to build their powder confidence.
