Adaptive Skiing Program
The Steamboat All Mountain Ski Camp is coming to Steamboat again for the 2012 season. We will be hosting many of the athletes once again as we donate our entire day to taking these amazing people skiing in the deep powder. This year the group will be with Steamboat Powdercats on Thursday – Jan. 17th, 2012.
This will be the 7th annual Steamboat All Mountain Ski Camp. It is put on by the Adaptive Adventures team and STARS of Steamboat. We here at SPC have been donating all our seats for the camps finale day and powder bonanza. It has always been a guides favorite day helping the adaptive folks get some face shots. It became even more special when our own Dave Genchi was injured during a snowboard incident while skiing with us on the Pass in 2006.
Over the years, we’ve worked with these adaptive skiers, be it amputee, blind or sit skiers, in hopes to extend the world of powder skiing with Steamboat Powdercats to all those looking for the fresh, backcountry turn.
We have now been helping to host this camp for many seasons. Every year we do this camp, it’s a super special day especially in consideration of Dave’s injury.
Thanks to everyone who makes this happen: Craig at Access Anything, Joel at Adaptive Adventures, Linda who is an amazing adaptive ski coach, the fellas at Backcountry Provisions, our guides, the helpers, Tigger, Hobbs, Felix and Calvin and last but not least, Mother Nature for providing us the powder that makes the day so special.
