Part Of The Game

February 20th, 2019|

Part Of The Game It's been said many times on the mountain, "If you ain't falling, you ain't trying." This statement couldn't be truer, especially when skiing powder because sometimes you lose focus for a split [...]

Calvin To The Rescue!

February 19th, 2019|

Catskiing comes with its complications. We're lucky to have the resources to keep our guests skiing when those situations arise. Calvin is the name of our road building cat. Calvin doesn't get to come skiing with us but every once in a while, He gets to come out and play.

Thanks, George!

February 18th, 2019|

Big shoutout to one of our Founding Fathers and first American President, General George Washington!! We can also throw "Honest Abe"...These two dudes probably didn't do much skiing but they sure knew how to run an infantile country.

She Ripped To Blue

February 17th, 2019|

We loaded up with extra warm layers and mid-day hot drinks in preparation for the blustering weather but were happily surprised when the storm clouds broke and the sun provided some much-needed visibility!!

Quality Conditions

February 16th, 2019|

Guess what!? MORE SNOW and I'll tell you, the conditions were primo. The temperatures finally dropped overnight which, being the main ingredient for Champagne Powder, produced approximately 8 fluffy inches by the time we checked the snow stake this morning.

Flakes Keep Flyin’

February 15th, 2019|

Shew-wee!! Twenty-Four inches of fresh snow in the last two days has kept us skiing our favorite lines as they got filled back in overnight. It may only be my second winter here in the fairyland town of Steamboat but compared to last year this time, it is a world of difference as it actually feels like winter!

We LOVE Powder

February 14th, 2019|

Happy Valentine's Day, Folks! This morning we were greeted with a loving gift of 12 fresh inches from Mother Nature and boy do we LOVE that!! Though the air temps were the warmest we've seen in several weeks, the snow was super fast and playful which made for a very entertaining day in the backcountry!

Transition Day

February 13th, 2019|

Two rocking crews out in our traditional terrain having fun, slashing the pow, meeting new friends and just crushing the Buffalo Pass snowcat vibe.  Our Level III cat was canceled around 11:00 am due to big winds messing with flight schedules and airplanes.  Oh, the hassles we face in our snowcat world.  It was a big let down for this crew as the snow today was fast, creamy and easy turning.

Champagne Powder!

February 11th, 2019|

Powder Day!!!!! We woke up this morning to some uber light fatty flakes falling from the skies above...this is also known as Champagne Powder here in the Steamy-B.

Sunday Funday

February 10th, 2019|

They don't call it "Sunday Funday" for no reason, ya know. Today we celebrated birthdays and reunited old friends from past ski trips to Argentina. Happy 16th & 50th and big props for celebrating both your birthday's right by Snowcat skiing with friends and family on one of the clearest days of the year!!

Owners, Friends, & Family

February 9th, 2019|

The powder skiing on Buffalo Pass today was described as "ridiculous" by one of our long term guests, Dale. He has been skiing with us for the past week with his buddy, as well as a slew of other friends and business partners. We couldn't agree with his statement.

It Keeps Getting Better!

February 8th, 2019|

I'm starting to lose count of how many times I've said: "Now that was actually the best day ever."  Each time I do say it, I genuinely mean it too. I'm sure braving the frigid temps yesterday made today that much sweeter, but you have to agree that nothing beats a bluebird pow day. And I mean NOTHING.

A Cold Wind Blows

February 7th, 2019|

With 22" of fresh within the last 36 hours, Buffalo Pass has finally received the refresh we've been waiting for. As usual, fresh, cold, blower pow pow is always worth it no matter what the conditions may be.

You Deserve It

February 6th, 2019|

We killed it today with a fantastic bunch of folks who got lucky with a major snowstorm. The southwest flow over the past few days shifted to westerly and northwest overnight and we got ours.  17" on Soda and 10" at the cabin. KABOOOOOM!
