And so it begins, our 2014-15 Powdercat season is a go!
After an interesting early part of December where we didn’t receive much snow, the faucet turned on last Saturday night and since then we’ve received around 2 feet of the season saving snow. For those who aren’t here in the valley, after a huge 3-5 feet of snow just before Thanksgiving, we were dealt a not so kind, rain crust that really put a damper on things. Seriously, it wasn’t just a rain crust, but more like an ice skating rink layer on the surface of the snow that derailed our staff training and got us thinking about bad things like postponing our opening.
But great things happen when it snows and since last Saturday we have been blessed with the good stuff again. We launched today our 32nd season, with a 38″ base and a couple inches of fresh on the snow stake. The 2 cats out relished in the newness of day and were satisfied as the day progressed, especially when the sun came out to put an exclamation point on the experience
Thanks to all of you who came up today: the crew from Breckenridge, Denver, Vail and our Steamboaters…you guys rock!
Only 102 days left in our season! So if you haven’t already reserved your cat day with us you better get on it. If you haven’t, then check out our calendar which is already quite full thanks to our fantastic horde of returning guests of the Steamboat Powdercats Nation.
