Once again our AIARE Level I Avalanche Course was a success! Students from Steamboat, the Front Range and across the country joined us for three days of education and fun. Our Level 1 consists of a day in class learning the basics of avalanche formation, terrain and decision-making. Then it’s out to the field for companion rescue skills, travel and snow observations.
With the lack of snow this early-season, students were “treated” to a great experience making observations into a very weak snowpack. Students began thinking towards future storms and what new load, and new layers will mean for our skiing and riding safety. Check out the photos below as well as those on the Avalanche Course page.
We are in the process of adding another course this coming weekend, Jan. 13-15th. We’ve still got spaces available, so give a call if you have any questions or would like to enroll.
Have fun. Play safe. Be well.
