There’s an old famous saying that goes a lil something like “no friends on a powder day.” We’re not sure why that became popular… because at Steamboat Powdercats, many friends on a powder day is the only way to roll.
The highlight of today was seeing complete strangers from every cat hi-fiving each other the same way we hi-five friends we’ve had for over 20 years. It was a nice reminder that if you are alone and you walk through the front doors at Steamboat Powdercats to check in for a day of powder skiing, you might not know it yet but the people around you are going to be some friends you will know for a long time.
Also, the “no friends on a powder day” wherever you go skiing, in the backcountry or at the ski area, is sooooooo lame as those friends of yours will save you if you are in a tree well, stuck in the snow or just fun to be around. It’s a blessing to have friends that watch after you, pay attention and wait for you at the bottom of a run. There’s always good friends on a powder day that won’t leave you behind or call you if they can’t find you. Find these type of friends and you’ll be better off in the long run.
