Every year, Steamboat Powdercats donates a day to the wonderful organizations of Steamboat STARS and Adaptive Adventures as part of their All Mountain Ski & Ride Camp. With the goal to empower and enrich lives through adaptive recreational activities these groups have partnered with us now for our 11th year of Adaptive Day at Steamboat Powdercats.
Among all the awesome things these athletes always get to do, the one thing they never get to do is ski the backcountry. “There are just too many mechanical and logistical challenges” said one of the trainers, “it’s just nearly impossible to get an adaptive skier off piste to schralp some pow.” Eleven years ago we saw this as a challenge and since then, we have been donating an entire three cat day to this All Mountain Ski & Ride Camp. We’ve collectively teamed up and love giving these adaptive athletes the chance to schralp the powder. Its a unique challenge to get an adaptive skier into the backcountry but we’ve figured out how to do it. Every year we look forward to going out with this camp and its hands down one of our favorite days of the season.
