Sally
Cariveau
Safety Guru & Adventure Guide
Sally grew up in Milwaukee, Wisconsin where she learned
to ski on garbage dumps. Once she got a taste of skiing on "real"
mountains she knew Colorado was where she wanted to live. Sally
graduated from the University of Colorado at Boulder with a Geography
degree and moved to Steamboat Springs, where she fell in love with
the Yampa valley and its people. During the summer Sally works as
a Hydrology technician with the US Forest Service. In the past she
was a member of the Colorado Avalanche Information Center (CAIC)
and has published a paper on snow stability, and is the Team Leader
for Blue Sky West's Snow Safety Team. In addition, she has been
a member of the Steamboat Professional Ski Patrol. When Sally is
not skiing, she can be found racing in the Town Challenge Mountain
Bike race series, trying her racing prowess in cyclocross events,
or in her cabin where she lives with her husband and their dog.
