| Kevin Schwan
Backcountry ski guide
Kevin Schwan was born and raised in Apache Junction Arizona. There, in the Senoran Desert, they were lucky to receive 8-inches of precipitation in a year, and snow only dusted the Saguaro cacti once every 3 years or so.

In 1991 he and his friends found snowboarding, and their love for the sport would have them shrink wrapping their boards to the roof of their car and leaving Apache Junction by 3:30 a.m. to get to the Sunrise Ski Area in the White Mountains of Northeastern Arizona by their 8:30 opening.
After attending school for massage therapy Kevin moved to Steamboat Springs in 1996 to be with family and to pursue snowboarding. In 2004 he learned to telemark ski and graduated from the Colorado Mountain Colleges Outdoor Education program. Today, life has come full circle and Kevin works during the Powdercats off season as an instructor in this Outdoor Education teaching desert orientation and mountain biking courses.
In 2006 Kevin found the Steamboat Powdercat family where he is able to share his enthusiasm for the outdoors and snow sports. Kevin has been spending summers in Denali National Park since 1998 and is currently working as a interpretive hiking guide.
In his free time he likes to hike, mountain bike whitewater kayak and travel.
