Bill "Murphy Dog" Murphy
Adventure Guide

Murphy moved to Steamboat in the Fall of 1990 and has never looked back from his Northern New Yorker roots.

He has spent the years since chasing his passion for the outdoors. He has kayaked and rafted hundreds of rivers in the U.S., Mexico, Canada and New Zealand; has spent numerous weeks backpacking through Colorado and Utah with his wife Jen, the love of his life. Murphy has logged thousands of ski days all across the country, from New York to California.

Murphy was a professional raft guide for 12 seasons. He has been a backcountry guide for wilderness therapy programs in Utah and since 1992, Murphy has been a backcountry ski guide at Steamboat Powdercats.

Murphy is a level II avalanche technician as well as a level I instructor certified by the American Institute for Avalanche Research and Education.

His newest passion is for his son Gavin who was born in May of 2007. Murphy is looking forward to many years of backcountry adventures with both Gavin and Jen.

Steamboat Powdercats operates under special use permits from the Routt - Medicine Bow National Forest and is an equal opportunity service provider.
