Eric Haskell – Backcountry Ski Guide
Eric lives to share raw, wild experiences with others. He is a powder hound who has been guiding in the mountains since 2007 and joined the Steamboat Powdercats team in December 2016.
The feather-light snow of the Rockies cast a spell on Eric from an early age. Born and raised in Colorado, he grew up skiing. From there he continually migrated north. In Montana, he studied Philosophy, in Washington he started guiding on Mt. Rainier, and in Alaska he taught mountaineering in the Chugach. Despite his adventurous spirit, Colorado has always been home. He lives a simple, snow inspired life in a 1800’s cabin with his girlfriend and powder-pooch.
Throughout the winter Eric guides with Powdercats and teaches avalanche courses for the American Institute for Avalanche Research and Education. In the spring he transitions to guiding ski-mountaineering. His summers are spent taking clients up rock faces.
Eric is an AMGA assistant ski, rock and alpine guide and a Wilderness Emergency Medical Technician.
