Phil Howard – Backcountry Ski Guide
Phil comes to us from Washington, Missouri but has called Colorado home since 2008. He started with Steamboat Powdercats during the 2015/16 season but his love for powder started long before that. He spent his first 4 years at Steamboat Powdercats working on ‘all things snowcat’ and is excited to be transitioning into full time ski guide. Because… powder.
He attended his first ski trip to Colorado at the ripe old age of 3, and while unable to partake in apres ski at that time, he was hooked. He took this passion for skiing and the outdoors to Durango, Colorado where he pursued a bachelor’s degree in Environmental Studies. During the non-winter months he has worked as a river guide with Mild to Wild Rafting & Jeep Tours.
He spent a few winters in Crested Butte, Colorado as well, where he worked on the art of perfecting the ski bum life. He now lives full time in the Yampa Valley and spends his summers biking mountains, floating rivers and tinkering in his new welding shop.
