Happy Merry Pow Pow and a Glorious New Year
As we drop into 2019, we are reminded of how precious each and every turn is, how special the experience we get to share on Buffalo Pass is and how treasured our lives

A possible 8'' of snow is projected to accumulate over this evening/night so we all need to stay optimistic and hope that the weather man has underestimated the in coming storm...we need to start 2019 on the right foot (or feet of fresh pow)!
All systems were a go today as we ran both an Avi I class and a backcountry tour trip in addition to our two early season Snowcats.
Starting off the morning at a blistering 3 degrees, we bundled up before heading to Buffalo Pass for another cloudless day of skiing! To our delight the cold didn't stick around for too terribly long and layers were shed, or maybe I'm just warm blooded.
Skies cleared around 10am today after Ullr provided us with four more inches of airy Champaign Powder! Once the sun poked out and made aspen tree skiing one of the most beautiful ski experiences I've ever logged on a mountain. Temps hung around the mid-twenties which, with the sun, kept visibility primo and climate balmy.
T'was the day after Christmas and all through the town, the spirits were high, because of the pow. Yep that's right, folks its still snowing here in "The Boat" and the skiing has been epic with an additional 8'' over the last day an a half!!
Santa came early this Christmas Eve bearing the gift of blower POW (a fresh 6'' overnight) and high levels of psych!! The snow continued to come down from the heavens all day which ended up giving us an additional 2'' or so up on the mountain.
Our twelve guests and six guides enjoyed a gorgeous bluebird day out powdercat skiing here on day #3. After a cold start this morning, the sun came around and provided a stellar view of the resort ski area and the western end of Routt County.
December 22nd, Day 2 of epic early season powder skiing here at SPC! With it DUMPing all day on our two full cats that were documented by two photographers, we declare today THE DEUCE!
What a way to kick off Steamboat Powdercats 35th season. We have the full band back together with 2 cats out, 10 staff on the snow, Rex and Phil building roads and a clean slate of freshies for us to destroy. Coincidentally today is also the Winter Solstice, along with the Ursid meteor shower and the Full Cold Moon. How fitting it is to blast off this season with such a magical alignment of mystical and cosmic powers.
