Bootylicious Day!

Today marks the official opening of all our terrain!! After this past storm our road builder, Rex, made the final push to put in the last Snowcat road which accesses the fattest aspens in Steamboat! These things are seriously huge, so huge that you can’t even wrap your arms around most of them…I’ve never seen aspen trees this big in my life!

We affectionately call this terrain “Bootylicious,” as there are hundreds of carvings of voluptuous women on the ancient aspen trees spread out through this area of Buff Pass. It’s said that very lonely Spanish sheepherders carved these bootylicious women in the 1920s while they were bored to tears watching their sheep. According to an article by Eugene Buchanan on the Steamboat Pilot & Today, anything over 50 years old on federal land must be recorded and it sure does make for a pretty cool Steamboat history nugget!
